Radical Broccoli is a universe created by the two Norwegian sisters, Susanne and Anette. And they are radical in many ways - because instead of just accepting the life that the world has mapped out for them (and us), they’ve decided to rethink everything. And lucky for us, they’re sharing their journey with the world - both through their Instagram, but also their podcast, webshop, they’ve written a book, created a course and just launched a network.

They’re on a journey to discover what type of life will make them happy and looking into everything from sustainability, work culture, fears and intimacy. They’re so honest and open about what they’re going through and that’s exactly what the world needs: let’s stop putting 10.000 filters on everything because that’s not how we learn to actually create the life that will make us feel fulfilled.

We loved chatting to them and we hope you’ll find this interview interesting - but it should only be the beginning, because you should make sure to follow them right here.

Hello Susanne and Anette - also known as Radical Broccoli. Can you start by giving us an insight into who you both are and what Radical Broccoli is?
Hi sitre! Yes, of course. We are the sisters Anette and Susanne behind Radical Broccoli - our company that we created in order to spread inspiration to a more sustainable life, from the inside out. We started with a blog and social media, and now have a podcast, two books, a course and a shop all on the topics of living in harmony with the planet and feeling amazing.

We love following you for everything wellness, sustainability, motivation, travel and just inspiration in general. Can you tell us what triggered this journey and how it shaped itself into Radical Broccoli?
Thank you! Yes, our journey started a few years ago when we were both quite exhausted from a very stressful lifestyle. Anette was working full time in the military and Susanne was just finished with her studies. We both felt like we were living a life that wasn't for us, it didn't feel fulfilling on a deep level and we didn't  feel healthy. We came across how a plant-based diet could be amazing for a better health, and also how big of an impact it has on the planet to choose plant based! We felt like the whole world needed to know. We finally dared to quit our jobs and jump into it, and that was the beginning of this amazing journey.

You have both lived abroad while studying and now you’ve moved from Norway to Portugal. How have you both been affected by living in different countries?
I feel like certain places resonate with certain people, and they also enable a different type of lifestyle. For us, it's been perfect to spend some time in Portugal this spring and summer, and to get to enjoy lots of time in nature, at the beach, surfing and just a more relaxed and connected way of living. Sun is definitely on both of our lists of priorities choosing a place to call home, it’s so healing and energising.

And how was it being sisters when you were separated?
We have had a really good connection ever since we passed our 'worst' teenage years, so it has been super nice to have each other no matter where in the world we have been located. It's also been very healthy for our relationship to learn how we can thrive on our own, but hopefully we will be based somewhere close in the future! We pretty much talk all the time.

Have you always been very in tune with your mental and physical health? If not, what triggered a shift?
I would say that the start of Radical Broccoli was the beginning of a health, wellness and spiritual 'awakening'. We got into wellness, meditation and personal development at that time, and have been going deeper and deeper in to truly be able to find our authentic selves, and to find what we are here to bring into the world! The shift was really feeling that "enough is enough" with hormonal imbalances, fatigue, anxiety and so on. Nothing was worth it without our health!

You’ve written an ebook called Courage. Can you tell why you think courage is a key force for people to learn and how you use courage in your everyday life?
Yes. Courage for us is the key to get into the core of who we are, and to unlearn everything that we are not. It takes courage because it’s not common, we are surrounded by a lot of people who don't do the inner work, and it is an emotional process! It's also very much about having courage to take the steps towards the life that you dream of!

sitre is here to create a more caring, honest and holistic approach to intimacy. Do you relate to the way the media speaks about this topic?
Not really, which is why we don’t read a lot of mainstream media, and why we need pioneers such as sitre to feel understood, seen and heard! The conversation needs to start, and will continue to develop openness in society like a wave.

We believe your health and intimacy are connected. Do you see sex as wellness?
Absolutely, sex is an important part of our health, wellness and connection to ourselves. It's connected to our creativity and pleasure and we definitely want to learn more about sex and sexuality.

What changes would you like to see within sex wellness?
It would be amazing to see more openness on the topic, which we all relate to, and for it to be discussed more openly. We just started walking the walk by creating a podcast episode on sex, sensuality and hormones, which received good feedback. I think we lack honest information on these topics, and they are essential to amazing health and wellbeing!

And finally: If you were going to give our readers a tip on how to be a better version of themselves, what would it be?
Start getting really curious about yourself, who you are on a soul level, your upbringing, and what you are here to offer to the world! When you know yourself it's also easy to learn to take exquisite care of ourselves - so that we can become our best versions and shine and help create a better world!

Thank you so much for the chat.
